My aunt and uncle that we visited last week sent us home with a box of these Rustic Bakery cheese coins. Can you say “addicted”?
Hello, old friends.
Banh tet (a rice roll filled with pork belly and mung bean paste that’s often eaten around the Lunar New Year).
My current go-to easy lunch.
Son found these and made me put them on while I was cutting onions. I gotta say, they do help… even if it does make me look ridiculous… 😉
Made this garlic and herb vegan cheese for our first family Sunday dinner in our new house. It was a win!

Things I want to eat:
Sweet potato fries, crispy beans, garlic tahini cream sauce. All the delicious things.

BRB, going for a run.
Lifeguard tower at sunset.
Vegan dark chocolate raspberry cup. Guilty pleasure.
Ca phe sua da. AKA, Allison’s going to be WIRED the rest of the day.
Back to the Bay Area for another business trip, back to our favorite Vietnamese restaurant for curry. 😀
And of course, Son’s bun bo hue.
Boiling Crab with coworkers. Appetizers galore.
Alll the shrimp.
Sushirrito! I expected it to be totally gimmicky, but it was actually really good.
Business trips to the Bay Area mean visits with family, if possible.
And visits with our Bay Area family mean lots, and lots, and lots of delicious food. 😀
Excellent xiao long bao (soup dumplings) (possibly the best I’ve ever had!) and lots of other Chinese food with my relatives and some of their friends.
Delicious doughnuts from Doughnut Dolly.
Also, a brand of kombucha that is sadly only available in the Bay Area. I didn’t think I’d like kombucha, but this was pretty darn tasty. Son’s kind of addicted.
I’ve never been a tea person, but now I’m kind of addicted to the tea you get with Chinese meals. So good.
Fried oysters.
Crispy duck. This is what we came here for.
Nom.
All sorts of deliciousness.
Have I mentioned there were only four of us? We always order WAY too much food. Not that I’m complaining. 😀
A noodle dish called “ants on a tree”.
This was the surprise winner of the meal. I mean, that crispy duck was amazing, but I couldn’t stop going back for more of these noodles.
Pork belly.
Clams. I was stuffed by then, but Son really liked these.
This is the calmest I’ve ever seen their dog. The poor guy is a little under the weather. ðŸ™

Flowers for the lunar new year, in our new house!
I love living somewhere that I can regularly go for runs at the beach.
Gotta have my tagalong.
Salmon don at Tsujita LA. Tasty.
Salted caramel bread pudding a la mode, from B Sweet Dessert Bar. Holy cow, this is soooo good.
Puff.
Sun setting into the ocean.
If I ever say I’m at the bar(re), this is probably what I mean.
The loveliest little homemade hand pies, from a dear friend. Will you be my valentine?

Even though he’s gone now, the “El Pollo Loco for dad’s birthday” (and leftovers a day or two after) tradition lives on.
It’s that time of year!
When Son calls on his way home from the DMV and says, “hey, there’s a Lee’s Sandwiches here, want me to stop and get some banh mi?”, lunch gets that much more awesome.
Current morning habit: ballet warmup first thing in the morning, then milk tea and a warm blanket while I call into meetings.
After a long week of moving, a burger break is a must.
… two days in a row. (Ssshhhhh….)
Seaweed bibimbap. Tasty.
Super bowl chili. Obviously, Fritos are a necessity.
